1.) My dad ran a 26.6 mile marathon last weekend. Yay, Dad!

2.) My friend just passed her Ph.D. exams. Then she came over to celebrate and we started kvetching together about doing our dissertations and the sad state of our department. I mean, they just went on this massive search to hire someone to cover American Literature: 1865-1914, despite the fact that we have like four other Americanists. Meanwhile there is no one, no one, teaching early British Novel, or 18th and 19th century British Literature at all, really (except for one crazy Romanticist who is all into cyberpunk now). The scandal! Okay, this isn't necessarily good, but we are both well out of the situation now, so who cares.

3.) Today at work my project manager was debriefing me on the client comments about a story, and she accidentally said "they liked the part about the whores" instead of "they liked the part about the horse."
