2002-03-29 - 12:57 a.m. -in which I am forced to listen to a lot of smarmy sexual innuendoes the pros and cons of the lingerie shower pro: my mom was hilarious trying to convince me to buy sis-in-law a flannel nightie or a long 30s dressing robe thing con: that bridesmaid chose teenie panties as her gift, then kept repeating over and over, louder and louder, "that is so not me!" and then coyly hid her eyes behind her fingers when people finally looked her way pro: homemade brownies con: wine in a box pro: fabulous prizes... con: ...awarded for knowing trivia about sis-in-law's fiance's favorite sexual position pro: the good con: the bad + the ugly = the tackytacular con: it came out that sis-in-law never asked if we wanted hair appointments, and several of us had assumed that she had already set those up for us really con: sis-in-law expected those of us with long hair to put it up super duper con: like we can do our own hair!!! So there we were, the night before the wedding, and three of us were going to have to hit the ground running the next morning and try to get our hair done before noon, when we were to meet at the church. I'm not saying the bride should pay for the bridesmaid's hairdos, but I do think she should arrange for everyone to get prettied up together, or at least warn her girls that they will be on their own, grooming-wise. Every other wedding I've been in, including my own, all the bridesmaids stuck together all day, getting hair and makeup (and lunch) together. It helps you avoid losing track of someone, plus it is a fun process to go through together.
