In one of the baby classes I took at the hospital the moderator told us this horror story about a mother who thought she needed to drink milk to make milk for her baby, as in the same exact amount of milk. So she was literally drinking two gallons of milk a day, and she and baby both soon developed terrible dairy allergies.

Another childcare book talked abut a woman whose doctor had told her that having a drink before nursing could help relax her enough for her milk to come out. So she took that as a prescription and was drinking 8-10 beers a day until they cleared that up.

And then there was the mother who couldn't freeze her breastmilk because its vodka content was too high.
