2005-11-07 - 10:29 a.m. -looking for a free meal
Everything baby rampy plays with is destined to end up in her mouth.
It began with her hands a little over a month ago. She would be sitting quietly on my lap, and she would almost absent-mindedly bring her knuckles up to her mouth and start making Cookie Monster aaahrm-aaahrm-aaahrm noises and slavering over them for minutes at a time. Now she puts her fingers in her mouth and simultaneously sucks on them while poking around and exploring the inside of her mouth. The best part is that this invariably ends with her eyebrows furrowing in puzzlement and her starting to cough because she has stuck her fingers so far back that she's starting to choke herself. For now we just keep pulling her fingers out at that point and waiting for her to figure out the connection.
She also devours toys, but only large, round ones. A neighbor gave her this plush jingle ball (a little smaller than her head) and she keeps steadying it between her hands and pausing to study it for a moment. Then her eyes widen madly and she buries her face in its side, closing her eyes at that point and shaking her head back and forth while most likely searching for food. She does the same thing with this clear, inflatable ball that dangles from one of her playgyms (because it's clear, you can see her tongue scouring the surface and her breath making little patches of mist).
Clearly the entire world is just one, big potential meal to her.
